PURPOSE:  THE WOODLANDS HOMEOWNERS ASSOCIATION CREATES AN ATMOSPHERE OF COMMUNITY SPIRIT AND MAINTAINS THE COMMUNITY’S INTEGRITY BY ENFORCING THE DEEDED COVENANTS FOR ALL RESIDENTS.

The Woodlands & WHOA History

The Woodlands began in 1975 as the Valhalla Company and was registered as such in Richland County. In 1977 the building lots in Section I of the Valhalla property was sold to the Woodbranch Limited. By 1978 the entire property was transferred to Woodlandsbranch Limited.

By 1980 residents of The Woodlands determined the need for a governing body to ensure compliance with the covenants and dealings a growing community encountered. The present homeowners association was formed and functions under the authorities of its constitution and by-laws.

The Woodlands Homeowners Association (WHOA) exists to serve the needs of its members and ensure, where possible, the community retains the standards envisioned when the covenants were drawn up. All officers are elected by the membership and serve without pay for a period of one year. As with any association, the strength lies with active participation by all members. The WHOA encourages all members to become familiar with the constitution and by-laws.

Since all residents, whether or not a member of the WHOA must abide by the covenants, which are a part of the property deed. Your understanding and compliance with these covenants will assist in reducing violations, misunderstanding, and ill will among neighbors and in the community.
